Increasing Numbers of Applicants for Degree Studies in English
Compared to last year, the number of applicants for degree studies in English has increased in both SAMK and nationwide. The preliminary increase for SAMK is 20%t, whereas nationally the increase accounted for around 18%. Especially the number of Finnish applicants for SAMK has grown. The applicants who have chosen SAMK as their first choice originate from 43 countries.
The official joint application period for Finnish universities of applied sciences ended on 15 February 2011. At SAMK there were three degree programmes in English to be applied for: Environmental Engineering, International Business and Marketing Logistics and Physiotherapy.
Studies in Environmental Engineering (Bachelor of Engineering) aroused interest in 66 applicants as the first choice option and a total of 288 applicants. 25 students will be chosen for the programme.
For studies in International Business and Marketing Logistics (Bachelor of Business Administration) 24 students will be chosen. 80 students applied for the programme as their first option, the total number of applicants being 370.
The most popular programme at SAMK was Physiotherapy (Bachelor of Physiotherapy); it attracted 168 applicants as the first option and a total of 420 applicants. Only 20 students will be chosen for the programme.
The application period for Master studies in Business Management in English will take place between 1 June – 30 September 2011 and the studies will be started in February 2012. The application period for Bachelor studies in Innovative Business Services in English will be in autumn 2011 and the studies will start in January 2012.
